If you’re a gardener, of any sort, then a garden cart is an absolute necessity. These simple contraptions enable you to take a bunch of “stuff” – this “stuff” might be dirt or pebbles or anything, really – and to transport it somewhere else. You can use a garden cart to transport just about anything – not just stuff related to gardening – and it saves you a lot of time, a lot of energy, and best of all, you don’t have to lug all of that stuff around manually.
More and more garden carts are coming equipped with seats. In today’s article, we’re going to look at how to find the best garden cart, for you, that comes with a good seat.
Before we begin, though, we need to talk about two things…

Why Is It Important To Have A Garden Cart With A Seat?
First off, it’s convenient. If you’re gardening and straining your back and your knees, this takes a lot of the strain off.
Second, if you currently suffer from back pain or just general soreness, this can help you alleviate that.
Third, and this ties into both of the previous reasons, it can make the gardening process more enjoyable especially if you’re working on something that is tedious and boring. If you’re sitting down and able to relax a little bit, it can make things a bit more enjoyable for you.
What Do I Need To Know About Garden Carts With Seats?
Today, there are more garden carts with seats being manufactured than ever before. More and more gardeners no longer want to deal with the struggle and strain that gardening often brings.
Due to this influx in popularity, you have a wide variety of options when it comes to purchasing a garden cart with a seat. But, just like any product with a wide variety of options, it can be a little tricky to figure out that one essential question: Which one do I buy?
In this article, we’re going to run through the basic features and elements that you absolutely must consider. Each element is important to your overall experience with the garden cart.
Before we dive into that, ask yourself the question of “Why?” As in “Why am I purchasing a garden cart with a seat?”
Is it because you have back painIs it because gardening can be quite tiresome and you want to make the process easierWhatever reason it may be, make a note of it. Let it guide your decision making when it comes to the purchase that you make.
Key Features You Must Take Note Of:
The Cart Type
There are four types of garden carts.
– Utility wagons
– Dump Carts
– Foldable carts.
– Flatbed carts
Some of these types are more likely to have a seat than others.
Utility wagons tend to be a bit bigger than the other types. They have sides that are removable, usually. Because of this, it’s easier to store items that are oddly-shaped and heavier loads.
Dump carts are just like utility wagons, but with one small, but a notable, difference. These types of carts have a feature that allows you to dump whatever you are carrying. If you’re carrying lots of bit items and large amounts of debris, these types of carts are incredibly useful.
Foldable carts are ideal if you have limited space for storing these carts. Usually, though, you can’t carry that much in them. They’re quite limited, in this aspect.
Flatbed carts have no sides. They’re best used for transporting bags of material and large pieces of debris.
Almost all of these have models with seats on them. Some of them, such as foldable carts, usually don’t.
It’s up to you to determine which cart type works best for you and the needs that you have.
The Carrying Capacity
Naturally, this is the second biggest consideration. If you’re working with a lot of debris and a lot of material, you’ll need a nice, big carrying capacity. Something that is at least 300 pounds.
Most garden carts with seats don’t have as much capacity as others, unfortunately. This is just due to the constraints of the design. But, this doesn’t mean that you can’t find one with a lot of extra capacity.
If you’re going to be carrying a small amount of debris, two-hundred pounds is good. If you’re going to be carrying quite a bit, try to find a garden cart with at least 300 pounds of capacity, but 500 pounds – or even more, for that matter – is ideal.
The Type Of Tire
Here’s a brief rule-of-thumb: if you’re using a garden cart designed for lighter loads, then, chances are, the wheels will be made of plastic. If you’re using a garden cart designed for heavier loads, you’ll get tires very similar to standard car tires. These are called “pneumatic tires”.
Plastic tires have a few distinct advantages. One is that they can’t get punctured, and the second advantage is that they don’t weigh very much.
Some of them don’t have treads, which means using them on heavier surfaces, such as concrete, isn’t always the best idea. But, for things like grass, it should be fine.
Pneumatic tires are ideal for heavier loads. They work well on rougher terrain, and they tend to last a lot longer because they don’t degrade as quickly. But, they can get punctured.
The Type Of Seat
When you look for a seat, you’ll want to look for two main things.
First off, make sure that it’s adjustable. Adjustable seats are commonplace, fortunately. But, still, make sure that you can adjust the height of the seat. This gives you a lot more flexibility and comfort when you need it.
Second of all, make sure it’s a wide seat. Or, at the very least, wide enough. Some seats are too small, and they quickly become very uncomfortable. This is counterproductive to the entire point of purchasing a garden cart with a seat.
Conclusion
Remember to keep those things in mind when you search for a good garden cart with a seat. Those features are crucial, so make sure to consider them while searching.
